The sound of Manirathnam has become less these days. In his own dialogue style, "Illa. Sathamae Illa". Mani has done some movies with a national scope but the best in him is taking casual/love stories. What a sensational trend setting movies he has made. Mouna Raagam, Agni Natshathiram, Pagal nilavu were all casual subjects made in a very soft approach. The world is turning into a fast food atmosphere. Ofcourse, movies these days are made in a similar fashion too. The taste is obviously overloaded. We need another typical casual movie with no big commercial elements in it. Atleast something close to Alaypaayuthae type.

In Mouna Raagam, Karthik and Revathi would go to a coffee place and Karthik would shout Chandramouli many times. Revathi's father would not be able to make it and Revathi out of tension would pour the water from the jug on karthik. The sudden reaction from the both would lead them to laugh. The performance at that very moment is a great capture by Mani. This is a perfect example of capturing emotions in a person. We need such scenes to be made. With Illayaraja scoring the background, this movie can never get out of anybody's soul. A serious stamp in Mani's movies.

Thinking about his movies, my one liner for mani would be to make a love story where the Hero is from the city and the heroine is from a village. The HERO is a very casual and easy going guy with no intentions to be worried in life.

The heroine due to family circumstances lands in the city. She finds a job easily and attacracted by the city life, she also gets to master the art of making everyone fall in love with her, but always gets super tensed. She totally ignores the Hero in many occassions but finally comes to know that she has fallen in love with him. The story is meant to derive a theme that taking things easy would lead to a successful and happy life. With that love touch as a combo, it is upto Mani Sir to do the screenplay hehe.
