Paruthi Veeran Songs Review

Posted by Swamy Srinivasan aka Kittu Mama On 12:08 AM

1. Ariyaatha Vayasu - This song has a good village tone. Illayaraja backing the voice is simply great. The music in it resembles a lot of Illayaraja's touches. The song kind of makes me feel the "Uyirilae kalanthathu" sung by karthik in Azagi. The music in it has some "16 vayathinilae" sounds and there is also a very strong "Yaedo Mogam Yaedo Dhaagam" reference at one point.

2. Iayyayo Yen Usurukkulae - This song is backed with lots of voices like KrishnaRaj, Manicka Vinayagam, Shreya Ghoshal and Yuvan himself. This one looks like an easy going song. Yuvan seems to be following some Rahman's footpath in trying to humm a little bit during the interludes. Offlate, ive become a big fan of Shreya ghoshal. She is an amazing singer and without knowing tamil, her performances are simply great. Her Ninaithu Ninaithu paarthal from 7G Rainbow colony is a definite proof.

3. Nathaswaram - haha i've to laugh here because Illayaraja has definitely done this piece. This is an authentic Illayaraja style. Very close references to Karakaatakaaran . Dont know whether Yuvan is highly inspired by his father and producing these notes or Illayaraja himself is gifting it out for Yuvan.

4. Sari kama pathani - This is also not a complete song. It is like Rahmans "hey manja kizangae" from Tajmahal.

5. Tanka Dunga - The starting speech before the song looks like Mayil Saami talking in the Sirippo Sirippu casette. Tanka Dunga is also a total village song. It was said that Ameer has taken this movie totally in the village and this song is just a representation.

6. Vuroram Puliyamaram - Village Village Village Village is all that we can expect from this movie because this is the last song.

Naadaswaram, Thavil is used big time for almost all the songs. I was kind of disappointed that there are not many real songs apart from Illayraja's Ariyatha vayasu but the movie as such promises that we can expect a real village based story. Lets hope that Ameer can prove it on the screen.
