இன்று ரயிலில் மூன்று நபர்களைச் சந்தித்தேன். Hi எல்லாம் சொல்லிவிட்டு உடனே Express ரயில் போல் பேச ஆரமித்தார்கள். நடு நடுவில் சிரிப்பு வெடி வேரு. பாவம் என்னையும் சேர்த்துக் கொள்ளலாம் என்ற நோக்கத்தில் தான் என்னைப் பார்த்தும் சிரித்தார்கள். அதில் ஒரு பையன் மேலும் Hindi(யில்) பேச குபீரென்று " I dont know Hindi" என்று Styleaa சொல்லிட்டேன்.
அதற்க்கு அந்த பையன் "You dont know Hindi" என்று உலக அதிசயங்களில் ஒன்று மாதிரி என்னைப் பார்த்தான். "Yes. But what makes you ask in a surprising tone" என்று கேட்டேன். "I thought you know Hindi" என்று சொன்னான். இந்த மாரி "I thought I thought"னு சொல்பவர்களைக் கண்டால் யேனோ எனக்கு எறிச்சல் தான் வருகிறது.
பொதுவாக Hindi தெரியவில்லை என்ற ஒரு உணர்ச்சி உருத்திக் கொண்டு இருந்தாலும் அது என்னுடைய தப்பு இல்லை. அவரவர் வாழ்ந்த சூழ்நிலை சுட்றுப் புறம் எல்லாம் தானே. "Hindi is a national language" என்று "Hindi" பேசுபவர்கள் சொன்னால் எனக்கு கோவம் தான் வரும். அவன் Hindi பேசும் "Atmosphere"இல் பிறந்ததனால் தானே அப்படி சொல்கிறான். எங்கு பிறக்கிறோம் என்பதெல்லாம் விதி. அப்படி "Hindi" மீது கோவம் எல்லாம் எதுவும் இல்லை. யேன் அந்த மத்யமா ப்ராத்மிக் போன்றவைகளைக் கற்க நானும் சென்று தான் இருக்கிறேன்.
I hate when Hindi speaking community try to target the Non-hindi speaking community with a vengeance look. After all, that is the whole reason Mother tongue came into prominence i think. I accept knowing other languages is a certain asset but that should not have any priorities or compulsions. If Hindi people can think that we hesitate to know other languages, how many Hindi speaking communities know Tamil or Telugu or Kannada?? We dont need to have big wars in India. I think the language war in itself going for ever.

மும்பையில் வசித்ததால் எனது இரண்டரை வயது வரை எனக்கு ஹிந்தி மட்டுமே தெரியும்..
ஆனால் இப்போ யார் என்ன பேசினாலும் எனக்கு புரியாது..
எல்லாம் நீங்கள் சொன்னது போல சுற்றுப்புறச் சூழ்நிலைதான் கிட்டு..

mm. i feel because of such staunch tamil worship our language is not fading out.. lot of individual tamil speakding people, lot of tamil blogs, not giving up our individualtiy.. thats really good. of-course new lanuage get u lot of new thigns i agree but it should not be complusion or under-rating.

Hindi is not a national language , absolutely true. thoda thoda hindi vachu samalika vendiyathu thaan. :)
