Anjaythey is one other cop based movie that is lined up with a story of 2 friends (Narain and Ajmal) , casted as front line characters. It is a movie that can trend set in the department of film making. Mysskin, the director and Magesh Muthusamy, the cameraman are the true heroes of the film and this is a statement that carries without any spice. They have done an outstanding job in giving every frame of the movie, an artistic touch and it really looked very obvious that the the director wanted to change the way people start seeing tamil movies. The shots and angles placed might look like a teaser but the whole package blends so well for the film buffs and the audience to accept it.

The story is simple. A friend who becomes a foe and the foe is ultimately killed by the friend. Narain who stays as a friend has done a convincing job but his dialogue deliveries were pretty sloppy. Being a malayali, it is understandable but it only pulls down some of his performances. On the other hand, Ajmal coming from a bombay background got his voice replaced with a regular tamil voice and that brought him more credit and helped the character stay very local and appealing. Ajmal carrying the ambition to become an SI, only fails to Narain, who happens to overtake him through sheer political influence and that creates the ripples in their friendship. The rest is all about sequences built through screenplay and characters.

Prasanna, the upcoming hero has taken the task of being a baddie in this movie and he is already in cloud nine, to have accepted the role. Villains in tamil cinema used to be yelling with horrible voices. But you can get to see a tamil movie without those yell effetcs and that itself was convincing. Prassanna has not done any damage to the character and that qualifies and opens him to take more roles in the future. He is also acting in the movie, "Saadhu mirandaa", by the famous director Siddiq, who has given very big hits through movies, Friends and Engal Anna. Saadhu mirandaa is expected to bring more dimensions from Prassana and lets watch out for that space later.

Pandiyarajan who also is in the baddie team has done it with ease and there are no complaints. He was only used as a casual and fearing person from doing wrong things and that was helpful in maintaining his comedian image intact.

Vijayalakshmi, the chennai 28 fame heroine is a perfect cast for this movie. A casual looking next door girl appearances have always attracted the tamil audience and now she is the girl who can fit into that kind of roles like a gel. Her performance was certainly natural and she has got some good scope to stay in for more offers to flow.

Sundar C, the music director should also take some credit here. His background score was descent and the music was definitely used only in spots were it was needed. Well, mysskin again should have influenced this idea and Sundar was caring enough to do the right job. "vaaza meenukkum vilangu meenukkum" was a very big hit in "chithiram paesudhadi" and "Kannadaasan Kaaraikudi" in this movie is nothing less of a comparison. It is an out and out bar song and a real treat for the audience in the theatres, who wants to dance along.

MS.Baskar and Livingston play the father character of Narain and Ajmal respectively. Both are experienced artists and they simply have no trouble performing it.

The biggest plus overall was the camerawork and narrative style. Heavy top angles, low angles, sequences running with camera focused only on the legs of the characters were something new and it was used elaborately. Though it was elaborate, it was not intrusive and that has made the movie a talk of the town. Anjathey is currently rocking the box office and is definitely a movie that has got good flavors in it for everyone to watch.
