Honda as we all know is the world leader when it comes to fuel efficiency in cars. Honda has always been the most renowned and accepted global manufacturer for India. Now that the gas(petrol) prices are into soaring heights, hybrid cars have become the best target for both the manufacturers and the consumers, world across. With that said, Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) has launched India’s first hybrid car – the Civic Hybrid. I liked honda civic for its stunning fuel efficieny and there is truly no car in the market to beat them on the fuel.
The Honda Civic Hybrid System features a 3-stage i-VTEC + IMA that employs Honda’s 1.3L i-VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) engine to provide three stages of valve timing (low-speed, high-speed, and cylinder idle mode), in combination with a compact and efficient electric motor, Honda’s IMA (Integrated Motor Assist) system. Coupled with highly efficient CVT transmission, the system provides nearly 47% enhanced fuel efficiency than a regular 1.8L Civic AT without compromising on driving performance. This is a huge news for India and the Indian consumers.
The Civic Hybrid also can deactivate all the four of its cylinders and simply operate using only the electric motor in certain steady-state cruising situations. This basically allows the fuel to be saved when a cruising situation arises. Well in india, such a situation is out of question in the city limits but lots of long distance travellers can save a ton.
In addition to that, the internal combustion engine is switched off when car comes to a stop while the brake pedal is pressed. All these factors contribute greatly to the reduction of fuel consumption and emissions, in a country like India where it is much needed.
The Civic Hybrid will be imported from Japan as a completely assembled and built unit and will be available in two colours for now - Exclusive Premium White Pearl and Alabaster Silver.
