RAMAKRISHNA PARAMAHAMSAR had many disciples and SRINIVASAN was one among them. Srinivasan was not only a true disciple but also a faithful follower of his guru in all respect. One day Paramahamsar informed his disciples about the significance of the word AHAM BHIRMAH and what it actually implies to our life. He said that AHAMBIRMAH means that GOD is within you. Hence, you need not waste yout time and energy in searching God elsewhere because HE is inside in every human being. He further said that God is not only within you but also in all living things like plants,animals,birds and reptiles. So, you have to coexist with all living things peacefully.If you don't do any harm to other living things, they will not harm you. Then the class was dispersed.
On his way to house, Srinivasan mind had started analysing what his Guru had said about AHAMBIRMAH. He had started thinking, if God is within ourselves, then why we should go to temple for praying God. If that be the case, then why ancient rulers had built so many temples during their life time.At that time. a farmer came running with a terrible speed and shouting loudly - all people get away from the road because the temple elephant became mad and coming running on this road. On hearing the farmer's warning , all people on the road disappeared immediately.But, Srinivasan stood boldly on the centre of the road. He said to himself that my guru had said that God is staying inside all living beings.Therefore, how God living in the mad elephant will harm another God who is living within me. So, he wasprepared to face the elephant. In a short time, the elephant came and throw Srinivasan to a distance.Fortunately, Srinivasan had fallen on a heap of grass and so he did not get hurt badly.
Next day, he went to his Guru and informed him what had happened to him.He asked the Guru, how the God inside the mad elephant could hurt him. The Guru replied that because he did not obey the warning given by the God living in the farmer, he was punished.
MORAL: Blind faith on any matter will not lead us anywhere.One has to follow faith with reality in life.
